Back in August 2010 we had our oil changed on our GMC vehicle at the Sears Automotive at the Cherry Vale, IL Mall. In November my wife was driving the vehicle when it killed on her on the interstate in the evening. Had the car towed to a local garage and the first thing they asked us was "who did your last oil change?" Apparently Sears incompentent employee put the wrong oil filter in our car, it was actually a Ford filter so it did not fit. Bottom line, the engine was blown in my vehicle. I called, made visits, call Sears customer service and got absolutely no where. Not until I finally blew my stack and went into the store and confronted the employees there did I get any type of response. The employees (one supposedly was the manager) simply told me they would file a claim with their insurance company and to wait for a call from them. I had to practically threaten them to give me the name and number of their insurance company. I was promised phone calls back from so many Sears employees and never recieved ONE. Customer service even told me the General Manager had 72 hours to return my call and I'm still waiting. Their insurance company finally contacted me and there was no way they could get out of the fact that it was thier fault, although they tried. Bottom line, I am writing this Jan 31st 2011 and it still has not been completely resolved. My car is still not right, even though the garage that put the new engine in for me is trying real hard to get it right. The worse part of this entire ordeal is the fact that I never even recieved as much as a "we're sorry" from Sears. I have read so many stories regarding Sears and especially their Customer Service department in Hoffman Estates, and how bad, rude and just down right nasty they are, and trust me they are true. These people are so ready to be nasty, they don't even give you a chance to tell the entire story. We had been long term customers of Sears, but no more. The stress, the time, the money I have been out regarding this blatant incompetant mess is just unbelievable and even the General Manager of the Service Centers was/is aware of it and NEVER once have I been contacted by Sears or like I said even an aplology.
