kenmore oven exploded 1/11/10 - kenmore electric oven

1/11/2010 My electric oven exploded. The oven was turned on and a few seconds noise/fire. The damaged was so powerful in the oven that the screws losen and fell and electric coil broken in peaces. Fire burn around the rib cage of the oven.White chalk remains in the oven. I contacted SEars and no help. It could have taken a life or burned my home. I need some answers. I contacted Sears and spoke with so many departments. Sears stated for me to pay for repair services.

My Kenmore electric oven, Mfr. Model# 92602, also just violently exploded. I was routinely preheating the oven to 350 deg and had my back turned when the door of the oven blew open and flames were licking around the bottom. The oven was empty and clean. I have yet to diagnose the cause, but I believe it must have been the heating coil underneath the base plate. If ever there was a reason to recall an item, this is it. Unfortunately, the 2 year warranty just expired and I am now out $700. If there is anyone else who has experienced this dangerous problem, maybe we can get together and take action.

I just experienced the same event with our Kenmore oven, Mfr. model #9260. I was preheating the oven and had my back turned to the stove when a loud explosion and a flash occurred. The door of the electric oven blew open and there were a few flames inside. I keep the oven clean. I have yet to isolate the cause, but it seems to be the heating coil underneath the bottom plate. The 1 year warranty has now expired, so I'm out $700. But at least my kitchen is OK, and so am I. I am seriously wondering why these ovens haven't been recalled?! If there is anyone else out there who has had the same problem, maybe we can take some action together.
