Called sears April 30 customer service to report a fire on the compressor relay on my 2003 Kenmore Elite brand side by side refrigerator Model number 106.536xxxxx manufacuted in Oct 2002. I was transferred to the recall dept. I was asked to provide the model number serial number and manufatured date and the cause of the fire as determined my the fire department, the representative stated that there was a recall and they would repair. Sears scheduled immergency service, which took 5 days, and a repair man came to our house on May 5, my wife took the day off of work. The repair man came out and stated that he was scheduled to do a warranty repair to the icemaker and not the relay and that he could do the work but would have to replace the compressor at a cost of just under $700.00. I called back sears again and they appologized and reschedule a repair man to come out and again fix the issue. As it turns out the repair man called me this morning May 7 to inform me that repair ticket did not give any payment authorization and that I would still be responsible for the payment. I was on the phone again for 1 and a half hours before the phone was cut off. I call back again, each time speaking with a different individual who would not transfer to the initial person with whom I initially spoke to. This particular agent Jesica, who said she sits right next to the original person Olympia, red the notes and said that I needed to now contact wirlpool and kindly provided me with the 1800 number to wirlpool. I spoke with Jesica in customer service ID # 5472 who stated that they cannot and do not service Kenmore products as they are compeditors and Sears Kenmore is responsible for the repairs. Please contact me back as I have spent a total of 3 and 1/2 hours on the phone and my wife has taken two days off work, not to mention the frustration.
