Sears shameful return policy - KENMORE Washer Hose Accessory (Rubber)

My husband and I bought a refrigerator, washer and dryer the day before Thanksgiving. We put these items on layaway, because we had not closed on our house and we were uncertain of the close date, but we wanted to lock in the price that we were buying the appliances at. There were also some accessories that we ordered for the installation/delivery. During the time in between our initial order and delivery, I came into the store and I also phone to have the accessories removed from our sales ticket. I was told on numerous occasions that I could have the items removed form the ticket when I came in to the store to make the final layaway payment. When I made the final lay-away payment, I asked again to have the accessories removed. I was told to accept delivery and when the delivery people gave me the item, I could just bring it back into the store the next day and get my refund. I brought the item into the store yesterday and was not given a refund. The computer system would not allow the salesperson to offer me a refund in the form of the credit that I was expecting back to my credit card account. Not only that, but I also was not given the full amount! I was offered a SEARS gift card. I DO NOT shop at SEARS, so the gift card was useless. I need a FULL REFUND and I am mortified that I have to jump through all these hoops to get a refund of $18.37, when we spent $2300 for the appliances. I am very disappointed in SEARS.
